Merry Christmas from Oxted Band!

What a strange year 2020 has been. This time last year we were looking forward to our usual schedule of concerts, contest and outdoor events but like many areas of life, Coronavirus has meant none of that has happened.

Thankfully, the band is still active in other ways – we’ve met regularly online and, when restrictions have allowed, we’ve met outdoors to play together, most recently for a carol blow-through! We were also able to meet as a small group to record for online Remembrance day services.

Remote recordings allowed us to play together at least a couple of times during lockdown, and such technology meant we could take part in the fantastic Hurst Green Online Nativity!

Christmas is a particularly special time for brass bands and we are usually out and about playing at various events and of course enjoying our Christmas Concert, usually to a packed out audience at St John’s, Hurst Green. We didn’t want to totally miss that experience, so are thankful to have video of our 2019 concert.

The video is embedded below, or can be watched on our pages on Facebook (www.facebook.com/oxtedband) or Youtube (www.youtube.com/oxtedband). There are also some additional Christmas videos popping up on our Facebook page, so do take a look.

We hope to see you again very soon, but meanwhile have a very Happy and Safe Christmas!
